Consultation & Preparation for Liposuction

Before undergoing Xpress liposuction, patients have an initial consultation with our cosmetic surgeon. During this meeting, the doctor evaluates the individual’s medical history and treatment goals. The areas of concern are carefully examined to determine if Xpress liposuction is appropriate for the patient. The surgeon also discusses the expected outcomes and explains our technique.

Next, we review pre-operative instructions, such as avoiding certain medications and supplements that increase bleeding risk. Patients may be advised to get lab testing or medical clearance from their primary care physician, especially if they have underlying health conditions. The surgeon also explains the recovery and post-operative care. Clear communication between the patient and the doctor is essential to achieve the best results from this treatment.

Xpress Liposuction Procedure

Preparation

At Exert BodySculpt, we provide antibiotic medication the day before the procedure. Our doctors also give anti-nausea and anti-anxiety drugs to keep patients as comfortable as possible during awake liposuction.

Markings

The surgeon creates markings on the patient’s body to guide the procedure. This helps to ensure maximum accuracy and the best results.

Anesthesia

The surgeon uses Pro-Nox, an inhaled gas mixture of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen, to keep patients comfortable and relaxed during the procedure. This type of anesthesia allows them to remain awake and responsive while avoiding any sensations of pain or discomfort.

Incisions

The surgeon makes tiny incisions (a few millimeters each) to access fatty deposits. Each opening is made with utmost care to avoid scarring after the procedure.

Infiltration

The surgeon injects a special liquid called a tumescent solution. It contains numbing medication and epinephrine, which contracts blood vessels and prevents bleeding during the procedure. The surgeon can proceed to the next step only after delivering the solution to the target areas.

Disruption

Fat does not come out easily, so we must use special methods to disrupt this tissue and remove it smoothly. Our cosmetic surgeon can break up fat using a cannula that vibrates at the tip (power-assisted liposuction) or a VASER device that dislodges fat cells with ultrasound waves (ultrasonic-assisted liposuction).

Aspiration of Excess Fat

This step involves suctioning the fat from the body. The surgeon uses a thin metal tube with an open tip on one side and a vacuum device on the other. This instrument helps to extract all unwanted fat.

Incision Closure

After fat removal, the surgeon closes the tiny incisions with absorbable sutures. These specialized stitches dissolve over time and do not require the doctor’s involvement. Proper wound closure promotes healing and minimizes scarring. We also apply Steri-Strips and a compression garment to provide support as the treatment areas recover.

Add-On Procedure: Renuvion Skin Tightening

Renuvion is a new technology used with liposuction to tighten loose, sagging skin. It uses radiofrequency energy to heat the tissue under the skin, stimulating collagen production and helping the skin contract. Renuvion is applied through a small handpiece that the surgeon moves over the treatment area after the fat has been removed through liposuction. As an add-on procedure, it only takes about 30-45 minutes.

Recovery After Xpress Liposuction

The recovery period after Xpress liposuction typically lasts 7 days. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous activity during this time to allow the body to heal. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are common side effects that peak 2-3 days after surgery but subside within a week.

Compression garments must be worn for some time to help reduce symptoms and promote skin retraction. Most patients can return to non-strenuous work within a few days but should avoid exercise and heavy lifting. Complete healing takes about 6 weeks.

I just had ChinXpress awake liposuction procedure with Exert Bodysculpt. I want to start off by saying it was a great experience! Best team ever:) I was nervous about what the pain was going to be like because it is an awake procedure. I was pleasantly surprised, there was no pain, and my recovery so far has been great!!!
