What Is Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift, also called thighplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that improves the appearance of thighs. It involves removing excess skin and fat from the inner and/or outer thighs to make them look more proportionate, smooth, and toned. A thigh lift requires 2-5 hours, depending on the extent of corrections needed. After the procedure, patients have less sagging skin, smaller thigh circumference, and better contours.

Types of Thigh Lifts

Full Thigh Lift

This procedure removes severe sagging and fat from the entire thigh area, including the front, inner, outer, and back thighs. It is the most comprehensive surgery that results in dramatic reshaping. The doctor makes an incision in the groin (an inner thigh crease where the leg meets the torso) and extends it down to the knee to achieve the best results.

Mini Thigh Lift

A mini thigh lift focuses on a smaller region of the inner thigh. It removes mild sagging skin and fat deposits in the upper inner parts of the thigh. This is a good option for isolated trouble spots that do not require extensive lift.

Spiral Thigh Lift

Preparation for Thigh Lift

Before the procedure, patients consult with our surgeon to discuss their goals and review their medical history. We evaluate each person’s health, skin elasticity, and the amount of excess fat and skin in the thigh area. The surgeon also discusses the procedure and preparation requirements, which may include reaching and maintaining a stable weight, stopping smoking for a month, and temporarily discontinuing certain medications that can interfere with the operation or healing. Thigh Lift Procedure

Incisions

The surgeon makes incisions high up in the inner thigh crease, extending from the groin to the knee area or around the buttocks. This provides enough access to trim away unwanted tissue in the thighs. The length of the incisions may vary based on the amount of skin that needs to be removed.

Liposuction

Liposuction eliminates pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. The surgeon inserts a thin tube (called a cannula) through tiny incisions to break up and suction out the excess tissue, helping to contour the thighs.

Muscle Repair (Optional)

In some cases, the surgeon may tighten separated or weakened thigh muscles to create a more toned appearance. This helps to support the surrounding tissue and achieve better overall results.

Removal of Excess Skin

The remaining skin is removed through excision (cutting away), which is performed with great care to minimize scarring and achieve the patient’s aesthetic goals.

Closing Incisions

Once the desired amount of skin and fat has been removed, the surgeon closes the incisions with sutures and surgical tape or glue. The incision lines start healing and fade over time.

Recovery After Thigh Lift

Recovery from a thigh lift surgery is gradual and varies for each patient. Swelling and bruising are common and may last a few weeks. Wearing a compression garment can help to avoid discomfort and speed up recovery. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous movements for 4-6 weeks after surgery to allow proper healing. Walking and light activity may be resumed after 14 days.

Most patients return to work within 2 weeks, depending on the nature of their jobs. Light office tasks can be performed even in the early stages of recovery. However, complete healing will take several months. It is important to attend all follow-up visits with our surgeon during the recovery period to monitor progress.

Best Team Ever

I just had ChinXpress awake liposuction procedure with Exert Bodysculpt. I want to start off by saying it was a great experience! Best team ever:) I was nervous about what the pain was going to be like because it is an awake procedure. I was pleasantly surprised, there was no pain, and my recovery so far has been great!!! The best thing I can think to reference it too would be like getting a tattoo, there was a little pain during the numbing process but wasn’t even that bad and didn’t last long at all. My lip filler hurt worse than my procedure lol!
